Being a Surgeon - Heart Transplant reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving the desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Heart Transplant may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. The schedule for these positions will be Monday-Friday variable daylight. Purpose:
This Clinical Transplant/VAD Coordinator I has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing care through the use of the nursing process. The Clinical Transplant/VAD Coordinator I, in collaboration with Clinical Transplant/VAD Coordinators IIs, Supervisor, Clinical Transplant/VAD Coordinators, the transplant/VAD team and other health care professionals, applies competent clinical knowledge and skills to achieve quality care outcomes.
The Clinical Transplant/VAD Coordinator I must demonstrate the entry-level knowledge and skills necessary to provide care that is relevant to patients under their care, as well as apply principles of growth and development over the life span. The Clinical Transplant/VAD Coordinator I also must possess the ability to assess and interpret patient data needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs.
