Surgeon - Neurology examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats disorders of the brain, spine, spinal cord, and nerves. Operates on the brain in order to relieve pressure in an intracranial hemorrhage, remove a foreign body such as a tumor, treat a wound, or relieve pain. Being a Surgeon - Neurology operates on the spine in order to free entrapped nerves, correct deformity, or restore spinal stability. Reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Additionally, Surgeon - Neurology determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. May provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Responsibilities:
- Perform EEG (electroencephalogram) tests on patients to record electrical activity of the brain - in office and ambulatory
- Prepare patients for EEG procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort
- Apply electrodes to specific areas of the patient's head and scalp
- Operate EEG equipment and monitor the recording during the procedure
- Recognize and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during the test
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to interpret test results
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient information, test results, and any observations made during the procedure
Experience:
- Previous experience as an EEG Technician or in a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of human physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology
- Familiarity with vital signs monitoring and diagnostic evaluation techniques
- Proficiency in operating EEG equipment and software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
