Surgeon - Neurology examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats disorders of the brain, spine, spinal cord, and nerves. Operates on the brain in order to relieve pressure in an intracranial hemorrhage, remove a foreign body such as a tumor, treat a wound, or relieve pain. Being a Surgeon - Neurology operates on the spine in order to free entrapped nerves, correct deformity, or restore spinal stability. Reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Additionally, Surgeon - Neurology determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. May provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Due to the growth of our program, Norton Neuroscience Institute is recruiting board certified or board eligible general neurologists for its comprehensive program in Louisville, Kentucky.
The ideal candidates will have an opportunity to join over 120 adult and pediatric neuroscience specialists who are part of Norton Neuroscience Institute.

The institute features several multispecialty neurology centers, programs and clinics, allowing providers to focus on care for a specific discipline or patient population.
In addition to numerous other accolades, Norton Neuroscience Institute leads a network of stroke care across four Norton Healthcare adult-service hospitals in Louisville.
This network includes Norton Brownsboro Hospital, a DNV Healthcare accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center, in addition to two Primary Stroke Centers and an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital.
Norton Neuroscience Institute providers benefit from the flexibility and culture of a private health care system combined with the research priorities of an academic institution.
