Surgeon - Neurology examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats disorders of the brain, spine, spinal cord, and nerves. Operates on the brain in order to relieve pressure in an intracranial hemorrhage, remove a foreign body such as a tumor, treat a wound, or relieve pain. Being a Surgeon - Neurology operates on the spine in order to free entrapped nerves, correct deformity, or restore spinal stability. Reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Additionally, Surgeon - Neurology determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. May provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. EEG Technician

  • Position Summary: The EEG Technician/Technologist is responsible for providing direct patient care by performing routine EEGs and Ambulatory EEGs on pediatric patients in an office setting. Performs standard and complex EEGs by measuring the patient’s head, utilizing the International 10-20 Measurement System if applicable, and applying electrodes to appropriate positions. Measures electrode impedance, calibrates, and adjusts EEG machine. Obtains recordings, using activating procedures such as hyperventilation, and photic stimulation. Adapts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observations, and EEG findings. As well, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients according to legal, organizational, and professional standards.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Performing Routine and Ambulatory patient setups and disconnects in-office setting.
    • Functions independently to safely operate sophisticated medical equipment to record, download, review and analyze recorded EEG and other neurodiagnostic studies
    • Provide technical proficiency for basic digital EEG systems. EEG Technician will utilize the 10-20 system of electrode placement to include manual measurements, skin prep, and electrode application. Provide proper knowledge of montage selection based on patient condition. At the completion of all studies, properly remove electrodes, clean patient/equipment, and process documents
    • Provide critical thinking and skill to recognize and correct artifacts accordingly. EEG Specialists can successfully troubleshoot equipment and leads appropriately
    • Excellent communication skills – with internal colleagues and ability to obtain patient’s medical history, explain procedures, and clear communication regarding mutual expectations during testing.
    • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.

    Requirements:

    • Experienced in EEG setup with pediatric and adult
    • Ability to work within rapidly changing environments


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Experienced in working with pediatric patients 1-3 years plus
    • CPR/BLS Certification
    • Must strictly adhere to HIPAA compliance
    • Registered EEG Tech (R. EEG. T.) from American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) (PREFERRED).
