Surgeon - Pediatric examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats children from the newborn stage through late adolescence. Treats a wide variety of problems children may have, which may include appendicitis, hernias, cancer, or a serious congenital anomaly. Being a Surgeon - Pediatric reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Pediatric may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. · Responsible for the provision and coordination of skilled nursing care and intervention to children receiving Pediatric Health Choice services.
· Utilize the nursing process to focus on the physiological, psycho-social, developmental, and environmental aspects of the child and family.
· Collaborate with other health care team members to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise each child's comprehensive protocol of care.
· Initiate and participates in child/family education and serves as a facilitator of family-focused care.
· Promote optimum growth and development for each child.
Qualifications:
· Minimum two (2) years documented previous pediatric nursing care experience / familiarity (pediatrics include ages birth up to 21 years of age: neonates, infants, toddlers, school-aged and/or adolescents)
