Surgeon - Pediatric examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats children from the newborn stage through late adolescence. Treats a wide variety of problems children may have, which may include appendicitis, hernias, cancer, or a serious congenital anomaly. Being a Surgeon - Pediatric reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Pediatric may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality and compassionate care to every patient
- Guide parents and patients through the treatment process, ensuring they understand the procedures and feel comfortable
- Educate patients on oral hygiene instructions and provide postoperative care instructions
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments
- Take x-rays and accurately record them in patient charts
- Maintain operational readiness of operatory rooms
- Prepare tray set-ups for dental procedures
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment
- Clean chairs and rooms to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Assist professional dental staff during treatments, including suctioning, holding retractors, and suture cutting during surgical procedures
- Document patient information, treatment plans, and procedures in patient charts
- Adhere to all government regulations and company standards
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from a senior high school
- High focus on customer service and satisfaction
- Must have a passion for working with children
- Compassion and a high level of service for patients, parents, and staff
- Integrity and a commitment to always do the right thing
- Dependable and reliable, with the ability to work according to the schedule
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- X-ray certification
