Directs and coordinates Maintenance Department, assumes Maintenance Technician duties by performing installs and repairs. Maintains and overseas machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, physical structures, pipes and electrical systems by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
- Monitors machines and equipment to maintain efficiency and possibly catch early signs of wear and/or malfunction. Discuss any potential concerns with the Production Manager.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and controls instruments.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
- Installs special function and structural parts in devices.
- Lubricates and cleans shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery.
- Starts devices to test their performance.
- Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
- Installs and repairs electrical apparatus such as transformers and wirings, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
- Installs and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
- Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
- Reviews manufacturers’ service manuals to determine optimum frequency of preventative maintenance and setup in computer system.
- Confer with the Production Manager to determine when planned maintenance will least interfere with operation of establishment.
- Estimate costs of parts and supplies to be used during scheduled maintenance.
- Maintain records of planned and completed maintenance in the computer system.
- Plans for reconstruction or installation of new equipment, machinery or buildings.
- Maybe required to work overtime as needed. As well as days when the plant is shut down.
- Updates IQMS accordingly.
- Completes all daily scheduled preventive maintenance in IQMS.
- Creates work orders and schedules work to be done.
- Ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises maintenance technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees: planning, assigning, and directing work, assisting with performance appraisals, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
