Surgeon - Trauma examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats critically injured patients. Performs emergency procedures including endotracheal tube intubation, tube thoracostomy, pericardiocentesis, ultrosonographic evaluation, and peritoneal lavage. Being a Surgeon - Trauma reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Trauma may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Vascular training in addition to Cardiothoracic training is preferred.Roles and Responsibilities:- Perform surgery and other medical procedures for diagnosis or treatment of cardiothoracic conditions
- Manage hospitalized and ambulatory patients, providing consultation and follow-up care
- Effectively communicate with other medical staff and personnel
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and protocols
- Keep timely and accurate medical recordsQualifications:- MD or DO degree
- Completion of a Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency
- Board certified/eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Active medical license in the State of Alabama
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsExperience and Skills:- Proficiency in cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgical procedures
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to handle multiple cases and prioritize
