Surgeon - Trauma examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats critically injured patients. Performs emergency procedures including endotracheal tube intubation, tube thoracostomy, pericardiocentesis, ultrosonographic evaluation, and peritoneal lavage. Being a Surgeon - Trauma reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Trauma may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator, in collaboration with Trauma Acute Care Surgery (TACS) Leadership, is responsible for the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program. The Trauma PI Coordinator works closely with the Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Manager and the Trauma Registrar(s) to assure PAR meets all trauma center requirements related to performance improvement.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursing program.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
2 years experience in nursing.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS Required
PALS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC preferred.
