Surgeon - Trauma examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats critically injured patients. Performs emergency procedures including endotracheal tube intubation, tube thoracostomy, pericardiocentesis, ultrosonographic evaluation, and peritoneal lavage. Being a Surgeon - Trauma reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Trauma may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Join our growing Renown Medical Group Department of Surgery, division of Vascular Surgery, practicing in the region's busiest and established full-service Heart and Vascular Institute and the only Level II Trauma Center serving a catchment area of over 900,000.
The successful candidate will be a BE/BC Surgeon with Fellowship training in Peripheral Vascular Surgery. The candidate must be comfortable and experience in complex open and complex endovascular procedures. The candidate will be joining 3 senior level Peripheral Vascular surgeons and 2 APPs in the department of Vascular surgery.
The Peripheral Vascular Surgeon will provide services for patients in the community, work to elevate our established Acute-Care Vascular Surgery program, support the growth of our ECMO program, Cardiovascular Service line, and Vascular Medicine program. The Surgeon will evaluate new inpatients, have comfort in covering vascular trauma and be experienced in complex open vascular surgery. Incumbents will also help develop the Vascular Surgery Outpatient Clinic seeing both pre- and post-op consults. Ideal candidates should be comfortable in the management of complex open vascular surgery and endovascular skills are a must.
The provider is expected to teach Residents and Medical Students for University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. Renown Regional is a state-of-the-art, 700 bed acute care facility with comprehensive and outpatient services and 24-hour emergency care.
