Surgeon - Vascular specializes in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of patients with diseases of the blood vessels outside the heart and brain. Position Summary: Under general direction performs a variety of ultrasound procedures at a skilled technical level requiring the ability to apply methods for diagnosis. Provides the physicians with high quality diagnostic examinations. Assists physicians in performance of some interventional procedures.
Essential Functions:
1. Organizes, plans and directs activities relating to patients and procedures for designated time and area. Maintains steady workflow ensuring a complete, accurate and timely work product. Reviews patient orders for correct clinical information and if indicated consults with radiologist or referring office for appropriateness of exam.
2. Demonstrates complete working knowledge of ultrasonography imaging equipment and computer software necessary to perform studies. Calibrate and performs quality control on imaging equipment as required and reports any concerns to the appropriate parties.
3. Review’s images for complete protocol and image quality with correct identification. For review by the radiologist.
4. Verifies patient identification by verbal communication, DOB, ID band, etc. Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination to patients and instruments. Is aware of emergency protocols and is able to respond in the proper fashion to all emergency situations.
5. Assists OIC scheduling/ reception departments in proper exam scheduling and patient handling in an effort to reduce reschedules or callbacks. Consistently gathers referral slips for exams and attaches them in patients file.
Graduate of a certified radiologic technology training program
5 years of Radiologic Technologist experience
Current BLS certification required at date of hire. RVT.
