Surgeon - Vascular specializes in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of patients with diseases of the blood vessels outside the heart and brain. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Being a Surgeon - Vascular identifies need for tests or follow-up visits. Reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Additionally, Surgeon - Vascular may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Surgeon - Vascular's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Performs sonography in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
     
    Job Responsibilities
    • Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
    • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
    • Performs routine and complex studies and assists physician in a variety of imaging procedures.
    • Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations.
    • Evaluates, synthesizes, and communicates diagnostic information to the attending physician or radiologist.
    • Communicates effectively with the patient and health care team and provide education regarding the procedure and equipment to ensure patient understanding.
    Qualifications
    • Associate's degree or higher in Science required upon hire OR
    • Associate's degree or higher in related field required upon hire
    • A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
    • No experience required
    • RDMS and RVS - Combination of Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and Registered Vascular Specialist required upon hire OR
    • RDMS and RVT - Combination of Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and Registered Vascular Technologist required upon hire OR
    • RT(R) and RT(VS) - Combination of Registered Radiological Technologist in Radiography and Registered Radiological Technologist in Vascular Sonography required upon hire OR
    • RT(S) and RT(VS) - Combination of Registered Radiological Technologist in Sonography and Registered Radiological Technologist in Vascular Sonography required upon hire AND
    • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
