Surgeon - Vascular specializes in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of patients with diseases of the blood vessels outside the heart and brain. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Being a Surgeon - Vascular identifies need for tests or follow-up visits. Reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Additionally, Surgeon - Vascular may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Surgeon - Vascular's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Responsibilities:
-Intake New Patient information and chart
-Assist healthcare provider in patient examinations and surgical procedures
- Room patients and take patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
- Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers
- Prepare/sterilize and maintain examination rooms with necessary supplies and equipment
- Schedule patient appointments and manage patient records
-Assist staff with incoming calls
- Provide patient education on medical conditions, treatments, and preventive care
- Assist with medical coding and billing processes
-Send clinical medical records to other healthcare providers
-Obtain test results needed for patient visits
-Purchase office medical supplies and equipment
-Manage patient calls with clinical questions or concerns and discuss with MD as needed
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent training
- Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Experience with medication administration and dosage calculations
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent patient service
- Familiarity with X-ray procedures and equipment is a plus
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital or clinic setting
