Description of Position                       

The Process/Sustainability Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining  regional sustainability metrics in Chattanooga & Laurel Hill.  Additionally, this roll will ensure regional sustainability projects are scoped and executed. This role will report to the Production/ Utilities Manager located at the Chattanooga plant – with dotted line to the Global Sustainability Leader and NA Regional SHE Manager.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead sustainability efforts across Kordsa NA to ensure the consistent implementation of sustainable and regenerative practices.
• Research and identify opportunities to develop and expand the Sustainability Plan and implement these strategies to address various environmental concerns including energy use, conservation, waste management and general education on sustainability.
• Drive improvement in Scope 1, 2 and 3 sustainability metrics. 
• Participate in and ensure sustainability in CAPEX projects.
• Draft and prepare reports, presentations and proposals on sustainability performance metrics, opportunities, and initiatives and present to management team and corporate sustainability.
• Objectively and accurately scope and present potential sustainability projects, focusing on improvement, ROI, alternatives, process improvements etc., 
• Manage regional sustainability projects and data governance for two US facilities
• Manage LCA Analysis of Kordsa’s products
• Managing SBTi Related Reduction Projects and monthly data reporting  
• Maintain close communication with Corporate Sustainability Department
• Scope and lead regional projects to Reach Net Zero CO2 Target (in line with the Paris Accord), Reach Zero Waste to Landfill Target and Water Withdrawal Target(s) – to balance and maximize ROI, Efficiency and Environmental improvement. 
• Maintain professional and unbiased attitude
• Willing to work off-shift when necessary
• Off-site travel time for site visits, meetings, benchmark visits, training, etc.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to bend down, stretch, walk long distances, climb stairs, ladders and steps
• Must be able to stand for extended periods on hard surfaces such as concrete and lift heavy objects (weighing more than 25 pounds)
• Must be able to travel independently 

Tools, Equipment, & Material Requirements

• Computer
• PPE (Safety Glasses, Earplugs, Safety Shoes, etc.)
• Data collection tools – temp guns, flow meters, measuring sticks etc., 

Safety & Security Requirements

• Perform all tasks, work and activities in compliance with applicable Safety and Environmental standards including regulatory, ISO 14001, CDP, GRI and other sustainability focused requirements.
• Awareness of job hazards in the manufacturing environment

Education, Certifications, Experience, & Other Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental or Industrial Engineering or other related field 
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a process improvement related field in industrial or chemical manufacturing
• A self-starter, with proven experience in diplomatically resolving issues through understanding conflicting inputs, achieving alignment, and proposing go-forward solutions
• Able to manage environmental projects, to work with interdisciplinary teams, and has excellent command of written & spoken English
• Willing & able to travel domestically and abroad – up to 25% of time

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to speak one-on-one and in groups with hourly and management employees, corporate teams, outside consultants, contractors, vendors, customers and any other sustainability stakeholders.
• Must be a team player and strategic thinker.
• Must be highly organized and self-directed to proactively identify and address issues
• Experience in textiles, plastics, weaving, extruding, polymerization, and coating type operations a plus.
