A Day in the Life:

The Director Sustainability will be responsible for the ongoing management and execution of environmental, social and governance-focused reporting for Hertz on a global scale.  They will support the Company’s sustainability and social impact strategy, goals and plan while driving mandatory and voluntary disclosures and strengthening Hertz’s key operational processes. 

This role will be a key deputy of the VP of Sustainability and Impact Initiatives and partner across critical stakeholders and leaders within corporate accounting, legal and compliance, investor relations, operations and many more.  This individual will be tip of the spear in understanding various regulatory requirements related to disclosures and reporting and will manage the action plan. Additionally, they will help cultivate a recommendation and action plan for voluntary reporting, including a proactive strategy for key raters, rankers and awards. Collectively this work will help to mitigate risk and financial exposure, increase brand reputation and influence business outcomes. 

The salary range starts at 100K; commensurate with experience. 

What You’ll Do:

• Oversees annual reporting requirements and performance improvement plans for voluntary frameworks like TCFD, CDP, and GRI as well as regulatory reporting for CSRD, SECR, and others as determined appropriate. Coordinates and ensures final production of the annual Hertz Sustainability and Impact Report. 
• Identify, document and align to leading disclosure standards, coordinating data collection across departments; tracking and analyzing sustainability and impact performance data, and producing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Liaise with key environmental, social and governance external rating agencies;  benchmark Hertz progress against peers; produce recommendations on disclosures, programs, and/or policies, and work with internal stakeholders to enact these recommendations. 
• Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes (US SEC, EU CSRD, etc.) and industry trends related to reporting and integrate new requirements into reporting processes, in collaboration with other internal stakeholders; stay informed regarding emerging sustainability issues and best practices; identify opportunities for collaboration and assist with development of policy recommendations.
• Co-Chair Sustainability Disclosure Committee and present quarterly on Hertz status and plan of action.
• Manage Sustainability and Social Impact organization’s budget and key operational processes

What We’re Looking For:

• 10 years of progressively responsible experience, including at least 5 years direct experience with (at least aspects of) ESG reporting and/or financial reporting; Bachelor’s degree required with a master's degree preferred
• Proven, progressive experience in an enterprise-wide function, with demonstrated effectiveness leading global initiatives, while engaging cross-functionally to achieve outcomes
• Operationally excellent, with ability to drive complex projects, document milestones and anticipate (and deliver to) required deadlines
• Strong leadership track record, with a global and strategic mindset
• An exceptional influencer with solid interpersonal skills and executive presence with a demonstrated ability to work within a complex and often ambiguous environment
