    Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire a Sustainability: Business Services Representative. Workforce Boulder County (WfBC) has an opening for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, solution-focused individual to engage and build relationships with Boulder County businesses as a Business Services Representative focused on the Sustainability Industry Sector.

    This position will require exceptional interpersonal skills, business acumen, and a thorough knowledge of local business needs and labor market information. This position will have a focus on sustainability, creating career pathways with training and best practices to support businesses transition to this sustainable model which aligns with the County's vision and goal to be 100% electrical and zero gas within the next decade.

    This is a full-time, benefited position. This position will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. This position will work remote and out of locations in Longmont and Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.

    Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

    Hiring Salary Range: $70,320.00 - $85,794.00 Annually

    Tentative Hiring Timeline:


    • Phone Screening: April 8th
    • First Round Interviews: April 15th
    • Second Round Interviews: April 22nd
    • Reference Check: April 29th

    New employees receive an 80-hour bank (Download PDF reader) of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month. Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

    Examples of Duties

    • Conduct in-depth research on current sustainability best practices, trends, and emerging technologies within the field
    • Analyze labor market information related to the sustainability workforce, identifying skill gaps and needs in areas like electrification, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
    • Collaborate with the Boulder County Office of Sustainability, local employers, and community stakeholders to identify job creation opportunities and training needs in sustainable practices
    • Engage with stakeholders to advance community sustainability goals and initiatives, especially as it relates to Career Pathway Development
    • Develop clear and measurable sustainability project goals, objectives, initiatives, or strategies in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability department and other stakeholders
    • Assist in the implementation of sustainability projects, ensuring alignment with Boulder County’s identified goals and objectives to be 100% electrical and zero gas within the next decade
    • Monitor and track sustainability indicators such as energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, and recycling rates to assess the effectiveness of initiatives
    • Assess proposed sustainability initiatives, considering factors like cost-effectiveness, technical feasibility, and community acceptance
    • Provide technical or administrative support for sustainability programs or issues as needed as WfBC works to develop a sustainability workforce network
    • Review, revise, and create sustainability proposals or policies to reflect current best practices and regulatory requirements
    • Develop reports and presentations to effectively communicate the impact and effectiveness of sustainability initiatives to stakeholders, decision-makers, and the public
    • Maintain plans and documentation related to sustainability projects for reference and reporting purposes
    • Collect information on electrification and green building practices to provide informed recommendations to decision-makers
    • Research regulatory, technical, and market issues related to sustainability to ensure compliance and relevance
    • Identify and procure necessary resources to implement sustainability programs or projects effectively
    • Identify or create new sustainability indicators that accurately measure progress toward Boulder County’s sustainability goals
    • Performs related work, as required
    • May be reassigned during emergency situations

    Required Qualifications

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
    Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of 6 years of combined education and experience in a related field, including 3 years experience in an office or business environment AND 3 years of high-level customer service and proven experience working with the public.

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field
    • Proven experience using various forms of technology and programs to develop and provide presentations, Programs utilized include Adobe Acrobat DC, Canva, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience in workforce development, business development, career pathway development, or sustainability sector
    • Experience in relationship building and partnership development
    • Experience with public speaking, presenting, and business writing
    • Experience with internet research, and labor market research

    • Ability to translate complex topics through written and visual communications
    • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and proficiency in performing tasks requiring good judgment and superior attention to detail
