Being a Switchboard Operator monitors the phone system's efficiency and performs routine troubleshooting. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Switchboard Operator typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Switchboard Operator may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Provides indirect patient care in the office/clinic setting. Greets and registers patients. Verifies patient demographic and insurance information. Performs Medical Necessity checking on procedures/tests/ordered for patients. Performs clerical duties. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, office/clinic staff and the medical staff. Operates Hospital switchboard, answering and directing incoming calls, and paging or beeping individuals as needed. Participates in performance improvement activities.
Responsibilities:
Shift: Primarily Rotating 8 or 12-Hour Shifts (6A-6P; 6P-6A; 7A-3:30PM; 7A-5:30P; 8A-4:30PM; 9:30A-6PM), Rotating Weekends every 4-5 weeks and Holidays. Night shift coverage when needed.
