Being a Switchboard Operator monitors the phone system's efficiency and performs routine troubleshooting. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Switchboard Operator typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Switchboard Operator may require 0-1 year of general work experience. The Switchboard Operator is responsible for doing day to day call taking, routing, triaging, emergency communication management, and tracking of alarms. They also manage codes and critical events.
Position Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:Switchboard experience or experience in a related area preferred.
General Responsibilities
- Scoping daily tasks for the department as assigned.
- Follow ALL emergency procedure codes and guidelines via overhead paging, timely and accurately.
- Acts as a communication liaison to leadership, internal and external customers, professionally and respectfully.
- Emergency answering service for after hours office calls, internal paging and consults, efficiently and timely
- Complete call schedules, TRACE faxes and other clerical duties, as assigned.
- A team player and collaborating in a professional manner. Willing to cover and adjust schedule when needed, to meet the needs of customers.
- Attitude - Provides highest quality service and meeting customers' needs with utmost kindness, care, compassion, courtesy, empathy, respect and friendliness. Always acknowledges and serves customers with a friendly, open smile and direct eye contact.
