Switchboard Operator operates a switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls. Answers incoming calls and basic questions, transfers calls to extensions, and responds to emergency situations as necessary. Being a Switchboard Operator monitors the phone system's efficiency and performs routine troubleshooting. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Switchboard Operator typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Switchboard Operator may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Duties include prepping packaging materials, packaging product(s), cleaning work area, monitoring the product and equipment to ensure proper functioning, and abiding by safety standards.
Tasks
· Operate machinery used in the production process, and/or assist machine setups.
· Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected, and notify setups immediately.
· Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using machines.
· Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete.
· Mark or tag the proper identification on packaging.
· Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
· Clean and arrange equipment.
· On a regular basis, examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
· Record information, as needed, to ensure the product meets specifications and tolerances, this can include – width, length, coloring, shape, feel (rigidity or flexibility), etc. Also, record the dates and times.
