    The Data Systems Administrator at Portage Township Schools plays a pivotal role in the efficient functioning of educational technology by overseeing the technical administration of PowerSchool and external SAAS programs. This position requires a proactive approach to system maintenance, integration, and user training to ensure seamless operations across various educational platforms.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

    1. Integration, Data Management, and Analysis: Utilize advanced data analytics techniques to analyze large datasets within PowerSchool and external SAAS programs subscribed by PTS. Employ statistical methods to identify trends, patterns, and insights to inform strategic decision-making. Collaborate with administrators to design and implement data models, ensuring accurate and efficient data integration and management processes.
    2. Reporting and Insights Generation: Develop and automate complex reports and dashboards within PowerSchool and Performance Matters to provide actionable insights for stakeholders, including administrators, faculty, and staff. Implement predictive analytics models to forecast student performance, identify at-risk students, and optimize educational outcomes. Continuously evaluate and enhance reporting capabilities to meet evolving organizational needs.
    1. Data Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce data quality standards and protocols to ensure the integrity, consistency, and accuracy of student information across systems. Implement data cleansing procedures and perform regular audits to identify and rectify data discrepancies and anomalies. Develop and maintain data governance frameworks to uphold data privacy and compliance regulations.
    2. Machine Learning and Predictive Modeling: Apply machine learning algorithms and predictive modeling techniques to analyze historical data and forecast future trends in student enrollment, attendance, and academic achievement. Collaborate with academic departments to develop personalized learning pathways and interventions based on predictive analytics insights.
    3. Data Visualization and Communication: Create compelling data visualizations, including charts, graphs, and interactive dashboards, to effectively communicate insights and findings to non-technical stakeholders. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations to inform strategic planning and decision-making processes.
    4. Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and advancements in educational technology, data science, and analytics. Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and innovation to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of educational technology initiatives. Lead pilot projects and proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate the feasibility and potential benefits of new technologies and methodologies.
    5. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including administrators, faculty, and IT professionals, to identify and address data-related challenges and opportunities. Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to diverse stakeholders, fostering a data-driven culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Additionally, provide training and supervision to staff on technologies, systems, and upgrades, overseeing and managing application system security to ensure data integrity and security protocols are maintained.
    6. Other Technology Duties: Undertake additional technology-related tasks as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to contribute to the overall success of the technology infrastructure.

     

    Ideal Qualifications:

    • Minimum two (2) years of experience managing PowerSchool and PowerTeacher Pro, with at least one (1) year of student information systems (SIS) experience and two (2) years of database administration/management.
    • Proficiency in SQL, scripting, HTML, and reporting, with desirable skills in Oracle and web application development.
    • Familiarity with academic software, learning support systems, and student assessment tools.
    • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with users of varying technical proficiency.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Proficient in computer hardware and common software applications like Microsoft Office.
    • Thorough understanding of data entry methods and ticket-tracking applications.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage workload efficiently.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer-centric approach to problem-solving.

    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
    • Experience providing technical support across hardware, software, and operating systems.
    • Industry-relevant certifications such as SQL, HTML, PHP, etc., preferred.

    Note: Equivalent training and experience may be considered in lieu of the stated qualifications.

    Salary: Commensurate with Experience and Training
