Systems Administrator maintains and supports the integrity of the operating system environment and various computer systems. Performs systems maintenance tasks, such as system back-up, recovery, and file maintenance to promote uptime and efficient performance. Being a Systems Administrator acquires, installs, and tests system software upgrades and computer components. Configures software and resolves technical problems. Additionally, Systems Administrator maintains documentation of IT infrastructure and troubleshooting procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Systems Administrator work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Systems Administrator typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     Minimum Qualifications
    • Minimum associate degree in a Technical Field OR Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Unix or Microsoft 
    • Minimum 2 years of System Administration 
    • A valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation are necessary.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major
    • Four to six years system administration experience including, but not limited to:  
    • Identity Management 
    • Active Directory on Premise 
    • Azure (Microsoft Entra ID) Active Directory 
    • Cloud Administration (Microsoft 365, Google for Education or Business) 
    • Windows Server/ File Server 
    • Endpoint Security Management 
    • Experience managing servers in a virtual environment


    Job Responsibilities
    • Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux, or Unix. 
    • Install and configure software applications and updates across the organization's systems. 
    • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access levels on servers and cloud systems. 
    • Provide technical support to end-users, addressing issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity. 
    • Respond to security incidents and breaches, investigate root causes, and implement measures to prevent recurrence. 
    • Create and maintain documentation for common issues and solutions to facilitate self-service support for users. 
    • Work may include evenings and weekends, occasionally with little advanced notice. 
    • Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from colleagues, managers, and professional development sessions.
    • Build relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure a safe, welcoming, and collaborative work environment.
    • Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission.
