BASIC JOB SUMMARY:

The Information Security Analyst will plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor security protocols for the protection of the organization’s computer networks and information.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Collaborates with users to discuss computer data access needs, to identify security threats and violations, and to identify and recommend needed changes.
• Employs data encryption, firewalls, and other appropriate security tools and applications to conceal and protect transfers of confidential digital information.
• Develops and implements plans to safeguard digital data from accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure.
• Works with IT Director and executives to define, plan, implement, maintain, and upgrade security measures, policies, and controls.
• Reviews violations of security procedures; provides training to ensure violations do not recur.
• Monitors and restricts access to sensitive, confidential, or other high-security data.
• Modifies security files and applications as necessary to provide specialized access, allow new software to be installed or integrated, or correct errors.
• Performs risk assessments, audits, and tests to ensure proper functioning of data processing activities and security measures.
• Compiles reports when requested to provide insight on the efficacy of security policies, incident response, disaster recovery plans, and other security related information.
• Safeguards system security and improves overall server and network efficiency by training users and promoting security awareness.
• Conducts vulnerability and penetration tests and risk analysis security audits.
• Monitors virus protection systems and responds to potential threats or infections.
• Monitors reports from CISA, NSA, DHS, Microsoft, and other pertinent entities to stay current and take proactive measures against emerging security threats.
• Analyses security breaches to identify the cause(s), take immediate reactive measures aligning with incident response and disaster recovery plans, and based on knowledge gained, to propose updates to incident response and disaster recovery plans.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
