Designs systems to consider functional requirements, scalability, and security. Being a Systems Architect defines system solutions based on user needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms. Researches, identifies, selects, and tests technology products required for solution delivery. Additionally, Systems Architect establishes, implements, and documents technology integrations or migration strategies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Systems Architect works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. The System Architect researches, analyzes, designs, builds, and maintains networks and computer systems. This may include both hardware and software from conceptualization through maintenance of these systems. The System Architect conducts research and performs trade-off analysis of alternative solutions. The System Architect analyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications. Guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies. Develops system architecture and system design documentation. Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment and system integration. Interacts cohesively with the customer regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts. Ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the end product(s).
