Systems Capacity Analyst analyzes server data by monitoring information system performance and makes recommendations on the process and utilization. Operates and modifies machine to increase information system capacity. Being a Systems Capacity Analyst recommends hardware acquisitions and evaluates practicability of vendor's proposal. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Systems Capacity Analyst typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Systems Capacity Analyst typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Background in computer science. Demonstrated experience working with personal computers. Any certifications relating to SQL Databases. Knowledge of: computer hardware/architecture, networking software, relational databases, MS Windows, and flow of data within the Hospital. Ability to solve user problems in the utilization of Hospital Information Systems.
Responsible for the setup and configuration of OpenLink interface engine and all HL7 interfaces. Also responsible for loading all of the AS400 releases and all IBM patches. This position will also work with IBM when there is an upgrade to the AS400 server. This position also works with report generation from the AS400 and other servers, as needed. If there are any special projects that require interface support or AS400 support, this position will be included. This position is also responsible for assisting in making sure that all servers are kept up and running and all times. Oversees daily activities of the systems analyst and help desk personnel, provides support, and ensures adequate staffing.
POSITION STANDARDS:
1. Maintain all Openlink and HL7 interfaces and made sure they were up and running at all times.
2. Responsible for the setup and configuration of Openlink and HL7 interfaces.
3. Responsible for assisting all other IS staff in making sure that all servers are kept up and running at all times.
4. All AS400 update instructions were followed and updates were successfully completed.
5. All IBM patchs/ptfs were loaded successfully and the AS400 is at the current level.
6. Responsible for any report generation and any FTP process that may be needed of other departments.
7. Assists the IS staff in resolving any PC, printer, scanner or any software problem or question that the NMH users may have.
DEPARTMENTAL OR UNIT SPECIFIC:
1. Responsible for working with the other IS staff in making sure that the IS servers are up and
running at all times.
2. Responsible for working on any IS related projects, such as on-line scheduling, e-forms, ER
documentation system, etc.
3. Assists the IS staff in making sure all IS file servers are kept up to date and are backed up as stated
in the IS policy manual.
4. Assists the IS staff in resolving any PC, printer, scanner or any software problem or question that
the NMH users may have.
5. Works with the IS staff in backing them up and training whenever possible on issues that come up.
Responsible for backing them up and training the other IS staff when possible when the situations
arise.
6. Responsible for making recommendations to the IS Director for any hardware or software that is
needed for the network or any servers to keep every thing up to date and running smoothly.
