We are seeking an experienced Director of Safety to join our company who will develop, implement, and manage our company safety program and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. This individual will maintain safety equipment inventory, perform safety inspections and audits, and manage our hazardous waste removal program inclusive of vendors and local municipalities. He or she will engage and work alongside our various facility management teams including the General Manager, Lab Safety Officer, Director of Operations and more. They will plan, implement and conduct employee training programs in a variety of disciplines to include but not limited to; emergency response, hazardous material handling, CPR, First Aid, safe driving, environmental conditions, etc. He or she will monitor environmental compliance and maintain liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies. Recommend corrective action where environmental health and safety hazards exist. Interact with others in the administration of the worker’s compensation program and the implementation of workplace ergonomics and program solutions. Monitor industrial health compliance.
To ensure success as a safety director, you should display exceptional expert knowledge of company safety policies and relevant occupational safety and health administration (OSHA) standards. Ultimately, an outstanding safety director should be able to identify opportunities to minimize workplace health hazards quickly and efficiently.
