Systems Consultant/Engineering Director oversees the design of enablement plans and configuration specifications and installation operations to implement integrated hardware and software systems and products purchased by customers. Develops standard processes and methodologies to prototype and test proposed solutions for feasibility, reliability, and quality. Being an Systems Consultant/Engineering Director directs the development of program and system specifications to meet customers' technical requirements and guide the enablement, configuration, or coding of products and solutions. Ensures the delivery of technical information, documentation, requirements, and cost estimates to sales teams to use in proposals, quotes, and statements of work meet sales cycle and project timeline requirements.     Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Sales
      • Directs international and domestic sales staff and sets objectives and policies.
      • Supervises and trains the sales team to meet sales objectives.
      • Creates and maintains a sales plan with targets by region, industry, and product type. Identifies short and long-term strategies to service key accounts and industries.
      • Collaborates with the sales team to ensure Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) are performed with all sales representatives.
      • Develops and maintains high-level relationships with key accounts.
      • Maintains a COTS price list. Sets pricing based on margin review as well as other factors such as competition and overall system margins. Reviews/approves all discounts.
      • Prepares and maintains the Sales & Marketing Department budget.
      • Reviews/approves expense reports.
      • Creates & maintains representation/distribution agreements. Reviews/approves commissions paid to representatives and distributors.
      • Works closely with worldwide support offices & representatives to create annual forecasts.
      • Provides detailed status reports & forecasts in weekly sales & senior management meetings.
      • Chairs weekly sales meetings to review performance against objectives, discuss sales leads, and set priorities.
      • Assists Business Development with new product definition and product improvement strategies.
      • Creates and communicates monthly product unit forecasts to the Operations Department.
    • Marketing
      • Supervises Marketing Manager. Sets priorities for market strategy, tradeshows, advertising, website content, and product collateral.
      • Assists with market research and development of new marketing strategies.
      • Assist with creating/editing technical data sheets and documents.
    • Service
      • Supervises Customer Service Team and creates policies & priorities.
      • Oversees Senior Manager responsible for the Technical Support team. Actively aligns the activities of the field support engineers with the sales team.
      • Works closely with global Technical Support Offices and representatives to forecast annual service work and revenue, and tracks performance against forecasts.
      • Assesses customer satisfaction through surveys, analysis of Help Center metrics, or other methods as appropriate.
      • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as requested by DTS management.

    • Bachelor s degree in Engineering or otherwise pertinent field or the equivalent combination of experience and educations is required. Substantial experience (approximately 10 years) in sales & business development supporting highly technical product lines is necessary. Master s degree in a related field is a plus.
    • Proven managerial and staff development skills are necessary. Previous experience managing distribution channels preferred.
    • Ability to effectively lead/manage a sales/marketing team utilizing strong analytical, reasoning, inter-personal communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skill is necessary.
    • Well-developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to guide a dynamic team through continued growth and business evolution is necessary.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of audiences (such as customers, vendors, executives, employees), verbally and in writing, is necessary.
    • Demonstrated ability to appropriately address and document details, meet deadlines, and communicate/work effectively with other individuals/departments in a professional, diplomatic manner is necessary.
    • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and providing leadership to people, systems, and large-scale projects is necessary. Additionally, the ability to be flexible, multi-task, and work within a sometimes ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions.
    • Demonstrated proficiency using various computer programs, such as, Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), as well as the ability to use a variety of specialty tools, such as ERP and Salesforce or an equivalent CRM, is necessary.

    Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Equipment Use

    This position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. The work environment is a production and engineering area and typical business office. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

    Occasional US and/or international travel to customer, vendor, corporate, and/or other sites may be necessary based on business or customer needs.
