Systems Engineering Director oversees the department responsible for the planning and engineering of an organization's systems infrastructure. Provides leadership to the team and ensures the requirements of the projects/contracts are met. Being a Systems Engineering Director ensures that hardware and/or software are designed and installed in a manner that meets the needs of the organization. Evaluates, designs and develops existing reports/documents for the performance of the systems. Additionally, Systems Engineering Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Systems Engineering Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Proven experience (8 years) in software engineering, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibility and leadership. Strong technical background, with expertise in software development methodologies, programming languages, and technologies relevant to the organizations industry and product/service offerings. Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills, including the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Experience with agile development methodologies (e.g., SAFe, Scrum) and project management tools (Azure DevOps preferred). Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on driving results and overcoming obstacles. Proven track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget. Experience with cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
