Systems Engineering Director oversees the department responsible for the planning and engineering of an organization's systems infrastructure. Provides leadership to the team and ensures the requirements of the projects/contracts are met. Being a Systems Engineering Director ensures that hardware and/or software are designed and installed in a manner that meets the needs of the organization. Evaluates, designs and develops existing reports/documents for the performance of the systems. Additionally, Systems Engineering Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Systems Engineering Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Systems Engineering Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Site Engineering Manager

  • Principal Duty

    This is a customer-facing role that combines critical thinking and integrated solution ownership with great leadership and management skills. This person will be part of our Lifetime Services team, responsible for on-site services and support post implementation.

    The Site Engineering Manager is responsible for the overall management of the material handling systems installed at the site. This includes managing the resident engineering team, acting as a key escalation point, and being the focal point for the customer on all automation related topics.

    The ideal candidate has a customer first mentality, embraces customer interaction, at all levels, and understands that the primary responsibility of this role is a high level of customer satisfaction.

    This position is based in Statesville, NC

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Serve as liaison between the supported facility and the broader Lifetime Services team. Attend daily customer meetings to build a strong relationship with the customer and keep them updated on site activities.
    • Develop rapport with customer operational staff at all levels. Work closely with customer operational staff to identify opportunities for system improvement in a pro-active manner.
    • Provide broad based electrical, mechanical and software technical ability to improve the site’s performance.
    • Coordinate all maintenance activities, including the Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule (PPM) and reactive repairs of the automated equipment.
    • Ensure adherence to contractual obligations, including performance clauses.
    • Collaborate with broader TGW Lifetime Services teams to track, document and communicate issues and lessons learned.
    • Manage resident engineering team, including hiring, mentoring and training.
    • Manage budget requirements for onsite support.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.

    Requirements Profile

    • Bachelor‘s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
    • Previous experience supervising a maintenance team in a factory or warehouse environment preferred.
    • Previous experience in high stress scenarios where conflict resolution and social skills are critical.
    • Several years of mechatronic troubleshooting and repair experience with material handling conveyor, AS/RS and shuttle experience; fluent in use of troubleshooting tools (Digital Multimeter, power supply, and hand tools).
    • Several years experience in PLC troubleshooting and use of programming, diagnostic and troubleshooting tools (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff).
    • Profibus, Profinet, CAN bus experience preferred.
    • Proficiency with interpreting CAD schematics for use in diagnostics preferred.
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite preferred.
    • Approximately 10% travel may be required.

    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; maximum unassisted lift = 50 lbs; average lift less than 20 lbs
    • Must be able to adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects
    • While looking forward, must be able to see objects or movements that are off to the side
    • Must be able to visually inspect machines
    • Must be able to see differences between colors, shades and brightness
    • Exposed to moving and/or motorized equipment, machinery, parts and electricity that require safety protocols
    • Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand
    • Must be able to understand the speech of others
    • Must be able to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
    • Must be able to focus on one source of sound and ignore others
    • Must be able to determine from which direction a sound came
    • Must be able to use critical PPE correctly
    • Exposed to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather based on geographic region
