Systems Engineering Director oversees the department responsible for the planning and engineering of an organization's systems infrastructure. Provides leadership to the team and ensures the requirements of the projects/contracts are met. Being a Systems Engineering Director ensures that hardware and/or software are designed and installed in a manner that meets the needs of the organization. Evaluates, designs and develops existing reports/documents for the performance of the systems. Additionally, Systems Engineering Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Systems Engineering Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Systems Engineering Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     What You’ll Do
    As the Systems Engineering Director for SLED West, you will set technical direction, identify areas to grow, and evolve sales execution for 80 Engineering Leaders, System Architects, and the extended technical teams. You will partner closely with the Senior Sales Director for SLED West and contribute actively to the SLED United senior leadership team. In addition, you will be a technical evangelist to vertical communities at Cisco and customer events and be an Executive Sponsor to strategic customer accounts. . This is an ideal position for someone who has a passion for building and scaling high-performance sales engineering teams in a fast-paced technology company.
    Roles & Responsibilities
    • Lead the Area’s Systems Engineering Team, with a vision of strategic sales engineering solution development and customer engagement across verticals and tiers.
    • Attract, recruit, and develop an impactful and diverse SE leadership team
    • Keep our SE culture as a desired destination and continually evolve the organization to lead customers through new market transitions with Cisco
    • Use data and coach the team to use data efficiently to adjust sales focus, team development, and more.
    • Drive the Area’s Architecture Strategy & plan attainment, including architecture interlock to improve field execution and ensure effective BE feedback
    • Provide innovative leadership and market insight from a cross Architecture perspective.
    • Represent Cisco as a Chief Technology Officer with our customers, partners, and internal business groups, and lead adoption of the CTO role and customer-centricity at all levels of the engineering organization
    • Build strong internal and external relationships in service of expanding total addressable market and delivering outstanding customer experience, ensuring that unique SLED requirements are understood in product and service creation and delivery
    • Connect with and contribute to the leadership culture and success of the broader Public Sector and World-wide Systems Engineering community
    Who You Are
    • Senior manager with 10 years of experience in field sales engineering
    • Passion for government, education and healthcare customer missions and the transformational power of technology
    • Strong leadership experience building and growing a dynamic, diverse system engineering team with clear development paths and goals - inclusive team builder.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide thought leadership, think strategically and effectively communicate vision (both written and verbal) and influence cross-functionally in a matrixed organization
    • Strong executive presence, polish, and political savvy – ‘Face of Cisco’ to the community and customer base, build and maintain strong executive relationships
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to persuade - using communications to convey complex concepts in a compelling, concise, and creative way and effectively translate vision to execution.
    • Level of business maturity, flexibility and the instincts to adapt to a high-energy, dynamic environment characterized by high growth expectations and a growth mindset culture
