Job Description:
Summary:
The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams providing support with control system implementation for automating equipment. Typical tasks will include developing operator screens for HMIs, writing and simulating PLC/DCS code to automate equipment and processes, configuring network switches for industrial networks, troubleshooting wiring issues, configuring VFDs and other network devices to communicate on industrial networks, performing I/O checks during commissioning, integrating equipment into existing control systems, and other related tasks associated with implementing industrial control systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
2-year technical certificate or experience/coursework directly related to the job responsibilities described above
2 years of relevant experience
Programming experience using ladder logic or function block diagram
Ability to read electrical schematics and P&IDs
Experience in HMI design and development
Familiarity with industrial control panel design
Computer skills and familiarity with Excel and Word
Understanding of motor controls including VFDs and soft starters
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
4-year technical certificate or experience/coursework directly related to the job responsibilities described above
Experience with Rockwell Automation software including Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View
Experience with Schneider Electric Control Expert (Unity Pro) software
Experience with industrial ethernet protocols including Ethernet/IP and ModbusTCP
Familiarity with AutoCAD
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Duluth, Minnesota, office.
NOTE: The position may involve field visits to client sites, including industrial processing facilities, power plants, renewable facilities, and other heavy industrial facilities. Appropriate safety training will be provided for the work at industrial sites.
