Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leads a team of engineers and technicians to successfully implement new machinery and machinery improvements. Projects must meet KPI's (schedule, cost, customer impact) while driving innovation and aligning with strategic objectives.
- Manages diverse skillsets including logic controls, mechanical / electrical design, manufacturing, assembly, and integration.
- Engages production employees regularly to solicit feedback for improvement and to align equipment capability with operational requirements.
- Maintains expertise through internal and external training; vendor relationships, and trade journals
- Acts as a technical resource for maintenance and other engineers.
- Select, coach and develop staff. Set clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team. Manage performance - recognizing achievement, providing feedback and administering progressive discipline when necessary.
- Foster collaboration between engineering departments to identify and harvest new engineering concepts, technologies, techniques, standards and procedures.
- Manage expenses and ensure project budget compliance.
- Engage in and lead business planning processes, recruitment, retention, talent acquisition, development, and mentoring.
- Create and maintain an organizational culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, excitement/commitment and a sense of urgency toward goals. Challenges team members to question the status quo and embrace continuous improvement and engagement.
- Develop engineering talent throughout the company, identifying training and growth plans for employees.
- Act as SAP Super User within functional area as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field
- 2 years engineering experience in an operational environment
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes.
- Demonstrated team building and leadership skills.
- Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs and financial items as related to machine design and development.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self-driven, highly motivated, flexible and high capacity to learn.
- Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD, Solid Works and/or ProE)
