Systems Engineering Technician assists systems engineers in the development of the systems infrastructure. Completes support tasks related to the design and implementation of hardware and/or software for the systems. Being a Systems Engineering Technician tracks and reports on systems performance. Requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Systems Engineering Technician typically reports to a manager. The Systems Engineering Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Under supervision, the purpose of the position is to provide technical support to engineering staff, assisting in engineering analysis, information collection and archiving, coordination with other departments and agencies, review of plans and technical materials, preparation of exhibits and maps and minor duties associated with project and construction administration. The employee is expected to exercise considerable judgment and initiative in the performance of job duties. Must possess an Associates of Science Degree with major coursework in Civil Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent vocational certification with major coursework in Engineering or Engineering Technology; supplemented by four (4) years responsible experience in engineering, construction, and/or surveying work. Preferred applicant experience in; municipal utilities, GIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel and Word, software for modeling hydraulics of collection and transmission piping networks and pump stations. Must possess and maintain a Florida Driver's License.
