Systems Engineering Technician assists systems engineers in the development of the systems infrastructure. Completes support tasks related to the design and implementation of hardware and/or software for the systems. Being a Systems Engineering Technician tracks and reports on systems performance. Requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Systems Engineering Technician typically reports to a manager. The Systems Engineering Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Repairs, tests and calibrates complex equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations and other established guidelines. Performs assigned duties in accordance with current policies and procedures, including equipment inspection and complex repairs. Provides alternate solutions to management for critical and complex issues. Assists in decision making prior to implementation. Uses office automation hardware, software, and service software appropriate to the equipment being serviced. Oversees and performs installations, troubleshooting, repair and calibration of clinical equipment. Oversees the maintenance of a calibration program for electronic and safety testing equipment used by the department. Installs repairs and calibrates complex and most classes of clinical equipment. Serves as reference source for clinical engineering and clinical staff with regard to appropriate procedures for the operation and maintenance of clinical equipment.
Performs administrative functions including:
• Assists in evaluation of new equipment, accessories, and supplies and the development of
detailed purchase specifications.
• May order parts and supplies necessary for the servicing of medical equipment. • Maintains historical
records on PMs and safety inspections
• Prepares purchase requests • Orders repair parts and supplies necessary for the servicing of
medical equipment
• Maintain clinical equipment inventory records
• Establishes and maintains supporting technical literature
• Maintains timely, accurate and thorough documentation required by management, as outlined in current policies and procedures.
EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
4-7 years' experience servicing medical equipment.
