Position Overview 

The Communications Assistant is responsible assisting the Department of Communication and Strategy with social media campaigns, marketing campaigns and public relations efforts.  This team member also performs other administrative functions as needed in the communications department such drafting internal memos, assisting with clerical duties and supporting district-wide events.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist with social media editorial posts and manages content for district website and social media channels to ensure that it is fresh, timely, and appropriate.
• Research content ideas to support editorial efforts.
• Responsible for maintaining the districts digital assets. Support the district’s  photographer/videographer at district events. 
• Other related duties as needed and assigned.

Core Competencies

• Excellent communications skills, written, verbal and presentation. 
• Proven ability to effectively utilize technology tools common in communication operations such as website navigation and publication, social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, X, and others as appropriate.) Proficient in Microsoft office suite, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced, changing environment. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communication (preferred), marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field.
• Experience working within the communications industry preferred.

Physical Requirements*

• Operate a variety of equipment including technological equipment such as computers and copiers.
• Can stoop, bend, twist, turn and reach on a regular basis.
• Adequate strength, dexterity, and agility to perform all tasks assigned.
• Must be able to lift, carry, and operate media equipment such as digital cameras and associated accessories such as tripods.
• Must be able to push, lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing approximately ten (10) pounds.
• Must be able to speak and hear to convey or exchange information including giving instructions, information, assignments, or directions to team members and other district stakeholders.
