The following is a summary of the role and responsibilities of a DSP this role includes but are not limited to the following:

• Be a personal companion to clients and act as a supportive friend serving their needs and working to build their independence
• Encourage and foster individuals’ preferred hobbies and interests
• Assist with and work to strengthen the individuals’ many daily living needs, including but not limited to: nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication, and socialization skills
• Help individuals to bathe, groom and dress, eat and drink if necessary, always working to improve self-reliance
• Create daily schedules and plans for clients
• Help set individual goals and track client progress, noting any drastic changes; report findings to superiors
• Make phone calls and drive clients to appointments, meetings, events, etc.
• Encourage individual skill development and work towards community integration
• Develop meaningful relationships and connections with clients to make them feel cared for and included in the community
• Follow all health and safety protocol
• Take vitals, height and weight
• Help clean and tidy home for the individuals
• Attend continuing education courses, training and get further certified as the job requires
• Be a compassionate, patient and encouraging support professional at all times
• Ensure individual takes medication properly and when scheduled
• Write documentation about the supports you provided during your shift

DSP Team Leader

All the responsibilities of a DSP in addition to the following

• Responsible for modeling and ensuring DSP’s provide high-quality service provision while on shift providing on site correction as needed and provides supervisor with feedback/observations.
• Provides supervision to staff in absence of supervisor.
• Oversee staff activities
• Provide staff training and monitoring
• Monitor individual program plans and maintaining compliance standards with the Department of DODD and other affiliated agencies.
• Effective networking with county board, nursing, guardians and other applicable agencies.
• Provide on call support to your team.
• Keep track and monitor individual funds, receipts and ledgers
• Maintain med refills
• Maintain house needs (i.e. grocery, trash bags, cleaning supplies etc.)
• Delegate to staff to ensure that meds and or house needs are maintained

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour

• 10 hour shift
• 12 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Holidays
• Night shift
• On call
• Overtime
• Weekends as needed

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)
