Organizational Responsibilities: The IT Systems Support Specialist reports to the Director of IT Services and Operations.
Job Summary: The IT Systems Support Specialist will work closely with faculty, staff and students to ensure access and efficient usability of technology on campus, develop and implement solutions to network issues, system administration problems and application errors, as well as monitor systems in order to identify potential system errors.
Knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Management, Operating System Deployment, and PowerShell is highly desired. Additionally, experience with cloud services such as Intune, Autopilot, AWS, and Azure is helpful. These skills will be utilized across the enterprise environment to benefit students, faculty, and staff.
Other necessary skills include Group Policy, advanced Windows desktop knowledge, experience with unattended software packaging and deployment, and basic networking functionality. Familiarity with print servers and experience with virtualization is a plus.
In addition, a qualified candidate should be able to research, test and create implementation plans for new technologies in both hardware and software. They should be able to maintain an advanced knowledge of new products, upgrades, technologies, and their benefit to campus wide deployment initiatives.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Experience to support a virtual data center environment, including experience with VMWare and VEEAM.
- Experience with using various computer imaging solutions such as Intune.
- Experience with a Windows Server environment, including Active Directory and Group Policy Management.
- The ability to recognize organizational process inefficiencies and improve them through the use of technology and training.
- Experience with systems administration and security principles.
- Experience with enterprise management technology for Windows and Macintosh platforms.
- Familiarity with installation, maintenance and support of wireless technologies.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with various personality types and levels of understanding.
- Collaboration with other departments will be frequent.
- Provide second level IT support to the campus community
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Working Conditions: The work is performed primarily in an office environment but will require going to different areas across campus to support our end users.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand and move around the campus.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Manual and physical dexterity and visual acuity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
- Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on a computer display screen, in hand-written form, and printed on paper.
- Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree preferred with experience in supporting users in a face-to-face environment. Associate’s Degree in technology related field or equitable experience working in the technology field will be considered. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a role with similar responsibilities.
