    About the Role  

    Capella is looking for a Senior Director, People and Talent to lead the vision, strategy and function as the company scales into the next phase of growth. This is a unique opportunity to work hands-on and at a strategic level to become more operationally excellent and develop strong capabilities within and between the People and Talent teams.  Reporting directly to our Vice President, Business Operations this person will be accountable for, and have previous experience with leading all the major functions and capabilities within the broader People and Talent team including: HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Employee Engagement and Recognition, Compensation & Total Rewards, Talent Development, DEIA initiatives, Employee On-Boarding & Off Boarding, HR Compliance/Audit, and other connected work.  Best fit for this role is someone who is excited about building and leading teams, creating and scaling systems and processes, engaging daily with employees and Sr. Executives, and providing hands-on operational direction to a motivated and skilled team. Ideally this person has served in a previous Head of People and Talent role in which you have developed expertise in unifying and scaling an integrated function.    

    This position will sit in our Louisville, CO office and we anticipate travel to our San Francisco office one week per quarter.    

    Role Responsibilities  

    • Lead and be an integral member of the People and Talent function, influencing and supporting the business through change, triumphs, challenges, and growth. 
    • Collaborate with the VP of Business Operations and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to build and execute the organization’s goals and strategy related to Talent Acquisition and Development, Engagement and Performance, Culture, Rewards and Recognition. 
    • In partnership with the ELT, gain a deep understanding of business goals and priorities, and ensure we have the right talent in place to achieve them and the right insights for our leadership team to understand the health of the organization.   
    • Proactively identify problems and opportunities to help prioritize and plan our people and talent roadmap and fill the gap with immediate short-term solutions while building sustainable longer term.  
    • Own vision and oversight of People programs that include, but not limited to: performance and talent management, training and development, employee engagement, talent acquisition, and total rewards. 
    • Provide strategic consultation to enhance employee performance and engagement and offer data-driven recommendations for performance management and ensure that Talent team is equipped with the right insights and tools to ensure a focus on quality of hire and building more representative workforce.   
    • Partner with Head of Talent to ensure that there is an integrated talent planning strategy for an efficient and high-quality process from recruitment throughout the entire employee lifecycle  
    • Establish best practices and change management for all People-related training, onboarding, career development, and engagement scorecards/dashboards.  
    • Stay abreast of HR and Talent trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies, including oversight of internal HR systems/operations.  
    • Design and lead the teams towards building a robust operational and data-driven foundation.  

    Qualifications  

    • 10 years progressive experience in the broader HR function with a focus in building and delivering People and Talent, Engagement and Culture programs that evolve an organization 
    • 5 years progressive people leadership experience; leading, managing and mentoring HR, Talent, and People Operations teams. 
    • Demonstrated experience with owning and building People Analytics dashboards and insights for Executives with the ability to influence on trends. Experience driving organizational change based on org health insights  
    • Excellent understanding of the HR space including performance management, leadership development, organizational design & development, talent acquisition and management, compensation and total rewards, labor laws and regulations, and diversity, equity, and inclusion methodologies  
    • Ability to convey strong decision-making capabilities by influencing stakeholders and driving organizational change 
    • Strong understanding and experience with designing and maintaining compensation approach that attracts and retains the best talent; strong ability to draw insights from many qualitative and quantitative sources 
    • A flexible attitude and a willingness to take on individual contributor work; a “no task too small” mindset with a natural ability to embed into a workforce and culture; build trust and be seen as an advocate and resource 
    • Experience in startup and/or high-growth environment preferred 
    • Experience with HRIS, ATS, Performance Management systems. Proficient in MS Office365.  
    • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field (Masters’ preferred). Certification in HR Management a plus Compensation 

    The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $162,600 - $215,510. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.
