    JOB SUMMARY 
    This job description is intended primarily as an illustration of the type of work to be performed by the Director, Talent Development. The Director reports directly to the Senior Director, Talent Development. Partnership employees are expected to provide their unique talents and abilities to solve specific problems or to address specific questions outside their job description related either to their team’s mission or in support of an organizational goal. They may be asked to participate in a variety of ad-hoc assignments and are expected to be flexible in their work practices and supportive of other team members. The Director is expected to be a critical thinker and contribute relevant input into team tactics, technical systems and procedures and always conduct themselves in a professional manner. All employees of the Partnership are expected to familiarize themselves with the Partnership Personnel Manual and to conduct themselves in accordance with its policies and procedures. 

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
    The Director will be looked to as an expert in talent and workforce development.   The Director, Talent Development will be responsible for working with the Senior Director, employers, higher education partners and community organizations on building a targeted talent development and recruitment strategy for Orlando’s most in-demand occupations and skill sets. This role is made possible through the Orlando Region’s Build Back Better Grant; therefore, the Director will support UpSkill Osceola, a program of the Build Back Better Grant, project deliverables to support the skills-based hiring strategy in the semiconductor industry.

     

    Required Competencies:

    • Project Management: The ability to effectively manage and report-out on project activities and deliverables. The Director will assist and sometimes lead in managing time, resources, requirements, deadlines and responding to unexpected events with UpSkill Osceola and other talent projects within the organization.

     

    • Labor Market Expertise: Working closely with the Senior Director, Market Intelligence, Programs and Economic Development teams, the Director will assist in collecting and analyzing workforce data to identify local labor market trends and career pathway opportunities, build inclusive upskilling strategies, share talent supply content and deliver resources to prospective and existing local employers looking to attract and retain talent in Orlando. 
    • Strategic Thinking: Strong organizational skills and the ability to align processes, resources and multi-department goals within the organization’s overall strategy.

     

    • Presentation & Public Speaking: The ability to present formally in front of large stakeholder groups, conduct trainings and workshops, build relationships with prospective and existing local employers and facilitate roundtable conversations with community partners.

     

    • Grant Support:   Assists with identifying relevant grant opportunities aligned with organizational goals.  Conducts thorough research on funding agencies, their priorities, and evaluation criteria. Drafts and edits grant proposals according to specific funder guidelines and formats. Provides administrative and technical support to the grant management process, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

     

    • Communication: Establishing and maintaining pro-active and effective communications to build collaborative relationships with team members and community partners including education and training providers and existing industry human resources personnel and facilitating effective usage of ideas.

     

    • Microsoft Office Suite: Ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite of tools on day one to effectively communicate with staff and measure performance metrics. 

    Preferred Competencies:

    • Familiar with data analysis tools and dashboards.
    • Hybrid / Remote Work: Ability to conduct business in person, virtually or in a hybrid work environment (i.e Microsoft Teams & Zoom), with flexibility for early morning start times, some evenings and day-time travel across the region. 
    • Salesforce: Knowledge of Salesforce to manage data and pull reports for internal tracking.
