Talent Management Manager manages the development, implementation, and administration of programs that evaluate, measure, enhance and improve employee performance. Utilizes assessments to evaluate and identify the current and emerging skills, competencies, and behaviors required to achieve desired organizational results and prepare for future needs. Being a Talent Management Manager leads the design of performance management strategies and processes that measure outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and align teams to organizational goals. Establishes cross-functional synergies that provide training and development resources needed to achieve workforce performance improvements. Additionally, Talent Management Manager champions a culture of objective setting and result measurement aligned to pay and rewards using tools, training, and communication. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Talent Management Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Talent Management Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     What we are looking for::
    The Director of Talent Management, Learning and Development will be responsible for creating, overseeing, and implementing KU Endowment’s Comprehensive Talent Management, Learning and Development Program which includes partnering with management to create strategy, manage, design, develop and coordinate all training activities, performance management, leadership development and employee engagement initiatives that are critical to KU Endowment’s culture.

    The individual will identify training needs and map out talent development plans for teams and individuals. Analyze organizational needs alongside business trends and skills gaps to establish an annual training plan that benefits all roles in the organization. The individual is the initial point of contact for management and team members who are interested in developing training resources specific to a unit, department, program/software or soft skills. This position is highly collaborative with cross functional colleagues and works closely with leadership.

    What’s a typical day look like?:
    • Develops, promotes, and executes talent management strategies aligned with KU Endowment’s goals and objectives to attract and keep high-potential employees.
    • Responsible for creating an annual training calendar based on department and organizational needs.
    • Partners with management and subject matter specialists across the organization to create orientation and training programs aimed at improving and standardizing the new hire experience.
    • Provides professional expertise and support in the design, development and implementation of the talent review process that is required to achieve business goals and results in the creation of an internal bench of top talent.
    • Participates in organizational operations planning and provides performance management and quality improvement policy development.
    • Actively engages, coaches and educates leadership in the team effectiveness process, including assessments, design and leadership development.
    • Advocates change management and practices to improve team effectiveness, systems thinking, personal mastery, employee engagement and continuous improvement.
    • Serves as a business partner with management to assess the needs of their teams to further develop job skills and assist them with submitting requests for appropriate resources, training materials and presenters.
    • Determines, analyzes and identifies immediate and long-range training and development needs through consultations, and needs assessment data.
    • Assists management with the selection of attendees and helps facilitate the planning, coordination and attendance tracking of such programs.
    • Prepares and submits reports as requested, including a projected training schedule and log of tasks completed.
    • Coordinates the development and maintenance of a training library including manuals, procedures, books, publications, training aids including videos, as well as on-line documentation.
    • Assesses training programs for appropriate application of evaluation methods; participates in validation research to determine value and application of training accomplishments.
    • Collects, analyzes, and maintains data gathered to inform targeted leadership development (e.g., succession planning).
    • Works as a team with and serves as back up for the other HR members. Performs other work as directed or required.
    • Understands and complies with federal and state regulations concerning HR-related rules and regulations.
    • Regular and reliable attendance is essential for this position.
    • Performs related duties as required.

    What’s required to be considered::
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Education or related field.
    • Five to seven years with applicable work experience in talent management, learning and development, and/or organizational development, preferably in a leadership capacity.
    • Familiarity with learning technology platforms, HRIS systems and traditional and modern job training methods and techniques.
    • Must have proficient computer skills, including word processing, computer systems (Word, Excel and Outlook), and databases.
    • Must be proficient in English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic math (including some statistics).

    • Experience designing, developing, and supporting organization-wide talent management programs that cover performance management, talent development, coaching, succession planning, data analytics and relationship management.
    • Ability to identify and assess training needs, develop, and manage training programs and staff development plans to meet identified needs.
    • A high level of interpersonal skills is essential.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documents.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and conduct daily duties in a professional manner.
    • Ability to organize, plan, and set priorities with minimal supervision and participate as part of a team. Adequate knowledge of learning management systems, e-learning platforms, and web delivery tools.
    • Must exhibit a positive, team spirit, professional, and customer service attitude.
    • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
    • Attention to detail is required and the ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions.
    • Ability to manage competing demands and changes in the work environment and to deal with unexpected events.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and build strong relationships across the organization.
