    • Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
    • Utilizes knowledge of Standard General Ledger (SGL), appropriation law, audit requirements, NASA’s financial system (SAP), Payroll regulations, and NASA policies in all functional aspects of the job.
    • Maintains communication with various stakeholders to ensure proper funding and documentation of various processes and procedures required for timely and accurate processing.
    • Records and reconciles all transactions to ensure they are recorded timely and accurately in SGL and all sub-systems.
    • Processes transactions for broad/varied range of functions including costs, reimbursables, labor, property, standard general ledger, and travel; conducts examination of transactions, researches information, and classifies data.
    • Verifies source documents for accuracy, determines necessary transactions, and codes transactions; prepares and ensures sufficient funds have been obligated and totals are correct.
    • Functions in an assistant capacity, typically working with senior staff members, carrying out predetermined phases of the assignments designed to provide broad exposure to the work in the organization.
    • Researches and analyzes data, issues, and information that support project recommendations or the work assignments of senior staff members.
    • Prepares researched and logically organized presentations related to work assignments; presents facts, issues, and positions that convey the intended information with the appropriate diplomacy and emphasis.
    • Provides user support and coordinates with IT to resolve system problems. Partners with IT to develop requirements for any system enhancements, upgrades, or new developments and assist in acceptance testing of these system changes.
    • Assists or serves as a member on Center/Agency team projects or initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

    To qualify for GS-09 level, you must have:
    a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level
    • Using automated tools such as Standard General Ledger (SAP) to complete a broad range of financial management or operational accounting (i.e. disbursements, vouchers, processing payments or other financial transactions);
    • Assisting in collecting data to support analyzing, reconciling, resolving varies, and/or interpreting accounting data;
    • Researching and responding to inquires verbally or in writing involving various accounting topics.
    OR
    b) Completed all requirements for a master's or equivalent graduate degree in an appropriate field
    OR
    c) Completed 2 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in an appropriate field
    OR
    d) LL. B or J.D, if related
    OR
    e) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b), c) and d) above

    To qualify for GS-11, you must have:
    a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level
    • Performing a broad range of financial management and operational accounting (i.e., disbursements, vouchers, processing payments or other financial transactions) using automated tools such as Standard General Ledger (SAP);
    • Analyzing, reconciling, resolving varies, and/or interpreting accounting data or performing research and responding to inquiries on various accounting topics;
    • Providing financial management support for an organization through oral and written communication to internal/external stakeholders and team members.
    OR
    b) Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field
    OR
    c) Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in an appropriate field
    OR
    d) LL.M., if related
    OR
    e) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b), c) and d) above
