We are currently seeking an experienced accountant (Senior or Manager) to join our team based out of Muncie, Indiana. This position is ideal for a professional with both assurance and tax experience, but it can be tailored to focus on one area of specialization or the other. Position Summary

Senior Accountants at Whitinger play a vital role in the delivery of quality service to our clients on both the Assurance and Tax sides of our business.  Anyone performing in this capacity must have exceptional communication skills that will allow for effective relationship building at all levels, be able to demonstrate strong technical skills, and have significant accounting knowledge to make sound business decisions. Senior Accountants enjoy significant client interaction and are expected to service accounts and look for opportunities to generate new business for the firm. All Seniors gain a comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives. Over time, Seniors develop areas of specific expertise that bring extra value to their clients and to the firm.

Objectives

This position offers excellent opportunities for leadership and career advancement and will include the following responsibilities:

   Assurance

• Working knowledge of fundamental auditing principles

• Work as a team on the fieldwork and “wrap-up” stages of assurance engagements
• Consistently apply GAAP and GAAS to resolve complex accounting issues
• Document, validate, test, and assess various financial reporting control systems
  
  

   Tax

• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws
• Ability to complete individual and business tax returns accurately and efficiently
• Ability to apply advanced problem-solving, research, and analysis skills independently
• Actively involved in marketing, networking, and business development

Education & Experience Needed

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university required
• A Master’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university preferred
• CPA certificate preferred
• 3 years of public accounting experience
  

• Demonstrated ability to complete work independently and adhere to scheduled deadlines and time budgets
• Demonstrated ability to complete work assignments with attention to detail and accuracy
• Experience maintaining necessary confidentiality with all client and firm information
