Tax Director directs and oversees an organization's tax policies and objectives. Monitors reporting and planning to ensure compliance with applicable tax statutes. Being a Tax Director ensures accuracy of tax returns and works to minimize the organization's tax obligations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Tax Director typically reports to top management. The Tax Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Tax Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Requirements
Responsibilities:
• Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrates basic knowledge of client's businesses.
• Review federal and state income tax returns for individuals, businesses, and exempt organizations.
• Handle federal, state and local tax audits.
• Prepare research memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, and other documents for submission to the IRS or other taxing authorities.
• Train and supervise staff, reviews and evaluates their work.
• Manage multiple clients, budgets and production goals.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• CPA Certification
• 9 years of recent public accounting experience
• 2 years in a supervisory role
