Tax Manager is responsible for managing the tax accounting staff and the tax planning, reporting, and compliance functions. Oversees the preparation of all tax filings and reporting in compliance with all required regulations. Being a Tax Manager evaluates the tax implications of company activities and develops strategies to minimize the tax obligations. Advises management on future changes to tax regulations and possible impact to the organization. Additionally, Tax Manager may manage and direct relationships with vendors and advisors. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to Tax Director or Top Tax Executive. The Tax Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Tax Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review individual and business tax returns
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients throughout the tax preparation process
- Utilize accounting software to accurately input and calculate financial data
- Stay up-to-date on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
- Assist with tax planning and strategies for clients
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax returns
- Maintain client confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Tax Preparer or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts and accounting principles
- Proficiency in using accounting software, such as Sage or QuickBooks
- Familiarity with market trends and changes in tax laws
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate complex tax concepts to clients
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Experience in public accounting or corporate accounting is a plus
- Typing speed of at least 10 key strokes per minute
