POSITION: Tax Manager                                                                 Location:  Augusta, Georgia     

SUMMARY

Under direction of tax partner(s), the tax manager supervises staff and provides tax services directly to clients. The tax manager should possess an in-depth knowledge of professional and tax accounting standards and effectively apply research techniques, comprehend various clients’ accounting systems, and adapt work as required.

JOB ESSENTIALS

• Plans, manages, and prepares large, complex business and individual tax returns
• Perform technical tax review of assigned tax returns of varying complexity
• Research tax issues and resolutions/recommendations for those issues
• Provides expertise in the area of tax; serves as an internal resource and takes an active role in developing staff
• Involvement in planning for, and management of departmental growth, and participates in decision-making about personnel matters (hiring, firing, performance evaluations)
• Demonstrated efficiency in completing multiple projects within limited time budgets
• Outstanding interpersonal skills

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• CPA licensure required
• Minimum of 7-10 years tax experience within a public accounting firm
• Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
• Proficiency with personal computers including spreadsheet software programs, general ledger packages, and computerized audit applications
• Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication
• Outstanding leadership skills - demonstrated ability to perform as a leader; ability to motivate, mentor, and develop staff and teams
• Demonstrated proactive business development practices including participation in professional organizations, maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients
