Teacher Aide partners with one or more teachers to prepare lessons and instruct students. Engages with students individually or in small groups to answer questions and facilitate activities. Being a Teacher Aide helps teachers resolve classroom issues and conflicts. Monitors and evaluates students' performance. Additionally, Teacher Aide typically requires an associate degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Field and Organizing Division is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Summer Member Organizer (SMO) and Lead Member Organizer (LMO) who will work from our regional offices throughout the state. One group of SMOs will have conversations with voters about passing a November ballot initiative to end MCAS as a graduation requirement. A second group will be trained to have conversations with non-members about the importance of joining their locals and the MTA.
The compensation for this position is $35.00 per hour/$875.00 per week for SMOs and $40.00 per hour $1,200 for LMOs.
There will be a limited number of Lead Member Organizers (LMO) selected from among the SMO applicants, who will help coordinate the program and work 30 hours per week.
The summer organizers who participate will build skills and knowledge to support their local union.

There will be a daily stipend to cover mileage and data charges.
