PARAPROFESSIONAL AIDE

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience working in schools or with children is required.
• Successful completion of the para-pro examination.
• An associate degree or certification is preferred, not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reinforcing lessons the teacher presented by reviewing material with students 1 on 1 or in small groups.
• Helping teachers with conducting lessons and developing materials.
• Enforcing classroom rules, school rules, and regulations.
• Setting up equipment or getting materials ready to help teachers prepare for lessons.
• Supervising students in the class, between classes, during recess and lunch, and on field trips.
• Acting as an encouraging and nurturing influence for students during lessons.
• Monitoring the classroom and minimizing distractions and disruptions.
• Performs other related tasks as required.
