Teacher Aide partners with one or more teachers to prepare lessons and instruct students. Engages with students individually or in small groups to answer questions and facilitate activities. Being a Teacher Aide helps teachers resolve classroom issues and conflicts. Monitors and evaluates students' performance. Additionally, Teacher Aide typically requires an associate degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Aide works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Job Purpose: Provide a healthy, safe, fun and developmentally appropriate program and environment where children have the opportunity to develop social-emotional, language, intellectual, and physical skills. The Teacher will assist the Lead Teacher in the classroom and serve as a leader in his/her absence. The Teacher will serve as a model to other co-workers and model positive behaviors for children. · Strong written and verbal communication skills that allow you to maintain effective communication with the assistant director and director, staff, families, children, and community groups.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· An understanding of and ability to communicate with children with various skill levels.
· Ability to be part of a team.
· Ability to adapt to multiple situations and respond quickly and safely.
· Ability to work outside of normal work hours to complete additional trainings, certifications, meetings, classroom planning, etc. as needed.
· Must be able to pass a background study.
· Must be able to become CPR and First Aid Certified within 90 days of hire.
