Teacher Elementary School prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned elementary school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of children in K-5 classroom setting. Being a Teacher Elementary School monitors and guides classroom behavior. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. Additionally, Teacher Elementary School evaluates and monitors student's performance and progress. Participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Elementary School occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     JOB GOAL: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Is competent in subject area.
    2. Uses long and short-term planning to organize course content.
    3. Plans daily activities with written evidence of preparation.
    4. Plans for student differences; enrichment and remediation opportunity provided.
    5. Provides for a high degree of pupil participation; uses challenging questions and interesting discussion.
    6. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior; distractions seldom interfere with instructional environment.
    7. Classroom rules/procedures clearly stated, consistently enforced, and well understood by all students.
    8. States lesson objectives clearly.
    9. Employs varied approaches in presenting lessons.
    10. Summarizes the lesson and actively involves students in its closure when possible.
    11. Has a neat, attractive, and inviting classroom.
    12. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis; includes assessment in planning.
    13. Communicates high expectations for student success.

    Personal Qualifications: 

    1. Makes appropriate decisions.
    2. Willingly helps individual students.
    3. Consistently has accurate grades, records, reports, and plans.
    4. Is punctual to school and classes; meets schedules or deadlines for grades, reports, etc.
    5. Sets good example in written and oral communication.
    6. Poised and self-confident; maintains composure under stress.
    7. Is dependable in performing duties and assignments.

    1. Adheres to school board policies, administrative policies, and school policies.
    2. Displays a positive attitude.
    3. Respects the confidential nature of matters relating to pupils, parents, and school personnel.
    4. Uses discretion in remarks about students, teachers, administrators, and school matters.
    5. Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
    6. Actively participates in in-service activities designed to stimulate professional growth; exhibits an interest in continuing professional growth.
    7. Maintains appropriate pupil-teacher relationships.
    8. Promotes the overall school program by involvement in activities beyond the school day.
    9. Displays enthusiasm for teaching and learning.

    Personal - Professional Relationships: 

    1. Maintains professional relationships with fellow teachers.
    2. Cooperates with the school administration.
    3. Provides opportunities for parent-teacher conferences.
    4. Keeps parents informed of their child’s progress.
    5. Other duties as requested.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  190 day contract.  Salary and work year to be established by the district (2022-2023). 

     

    EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
