Instruction at SouthSide Elementary Charter School is aligned to the Rhode Island grade level expectations, Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards. Assessments are used to identify students' needs and tailor instruction accordingly. Our school day and year are both extended and teachers are held to high expectations to collaboratively plan a full day of standards-based instruction that maximizes learning time. The extended school day and school year at SouthSide Elementary Charter School are part of the high expectations emphasis at our school. Teachers take full advantage of every second of learning time so that our students receive eight plus hours a day of high quality standards-based instruction. Teachers are required to work 8-hour shifts and attendance at evening family engagement events is requested on an alternating basis.
