Teacher High School prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned secondary school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a grade 6-12 classroom setting. Being a Teacher High School evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Teacher High School participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher High School occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.       A vacancy exists for a contract Science Teacher at Pottsgrove High School. Pottsgrove teachers develop curriculum and lesson plans, and present those lessons to their students, individually or in groups. They track the progress of their students and create reports to inform parents about their progress. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment in order to optimize student capabilities and develop their love of learning. This position will be part of the close-knit community of Pottsgrove staff who positively impact the lives of students each day.
      QUALIFICATIONS

      • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required.
      • Active and valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate for secondary Science preferred.
      • Prior teaching experience preferred.
      • An understanding of the latest instructional strategies in academic areas.
      • Valid clearances dated within one year.


      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Work cooperatively with the principal, subject supervisors and other staff members to develop an integrated educational program for children.
      • Assess the attitudes, skills and abilities of children for effective teaching and learning each marking period as well as on an annual basis.
      • Provide meaningful, appropriate learning experiences for assigned groups of children including differentiated instruction to meet individual needs of children.
      • Properly refer to the IST process those children experiencing unusual difficulties.
      • Effectively implement IEP’s of identified children using the resources that are provided.
      • Maintain a plan book as directed by the principal and submit plan book for review upon request. Have daily plans readily available for the use of a substitute in the event of absence.
      • Appropriately integrate technology into the teaching learning process.
      • Evaluate children’s progress as a basis for planning and reporting to parents.
      • Complete and record students’ progress and attendance on appropriate records or documents.
